Crispy Hashbrowns Ingredients

Method

Crispy Hashbrowns Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a bowl of cold water to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Drain and Dry

After soaking for about 10 minutes, drain the potatoes and spread them out on a clean kitchen towel. Pat them dry to remove as much moisture as possible.

  3. 3

    Season the Potatoes

In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix well to ensure the potatoes are evenly seasoned.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  5. 5

    Cook the Hashbrowns

Add the seasoned potato mixture to the hot oil in an even layer. Press down lightly with a spatula. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Flip and Cook Again

Carefully flip the hashbrowns using the spatula and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side until crispy and golden brown.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove the hashbrowns from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Serve warm.
