Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Breading
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- 2
Coat the Calamari
Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until well coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Calamari
Carefully place the coated calamari rings and sliced jalapeño and aji peppers into the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 5
Drain and Toss
Using a slotted spoon, remove the calamari and peppers from the oil and drain on paper towels. Toss with fresh parsley and additional seasoning if desired.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot with sweet chili aioli on the side for dipping.
