Method
Hummus Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chickpeas
Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water. This helps to remove excess sodium and any canning liquid.
- 2
Blend the Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- 3
Add Roasted Red Peppers
Add the roasted red peppers to the mixture in the food processor. Blend again until the peppers are fully incorporated and the hummus is creamy.
- 4
Adjust Consistency
If the hummus is too thick, add a little water or additional olive oil, one tablespoon at a time, and blend until desired consistency is achieved.
Serving Instructions
- 5
Prepare the Vegetables
While the hummus is blending, wash and slice the red and green bell peppers into strips for dipping.
- 6
Serve
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with a little extra olive oil if desired, and serve with pita chips and sliced bell peppers on the side.
