Beer Battered Fish
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, mixing until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it sizzles and floats to the top, it's ready.
- 3
Coat the Fish
Dip each cod filet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Let any excess batter drip off.
- 4
Fry the Fish
Carefully place the battered cod filets into the hot oil, frying them in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried fish from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with fries.
