Method
Prepare the Batter

Mix the Batter Ingredients
In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Gradually whisk in the Hoyne Pilsner beer until smooth. Let the batter sit for about 15 minutes.
Prepare the Fish

Season the Cod
Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season with salt and black pepper on both sides.
Make the Coleslaw

Combine Coleslaw Ingredients
In a large bowl, mix the shredded cabbage and grated carrot. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine. Refrigerate until serving.
Make the Tartar Sauce

Mix Tartar Sauce Ingredients
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, pickles, lemon juice, and fresh dill. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Fry the Fish

Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

Coat and Fry the Fish
Dip each seasoned cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the fillet in the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve

Serve the fish hot with coleslaw and tartar sauce on the side.
