Apple Strudel

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and raisins. Toss until apples are evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Phyllo Dough

Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush with melted butter. Layer another sheet on top and brush with more butter. Repeat until you have 5 sheets layered.

  3. 3

    Add Filling

Sprinkle half of the bread crumbs over the phyllo dough, then spread half of the apple mixture on top of the bread crumbs.

  4. 4

    Roll the Strudel

Using the edges of the phyllo dough, carefully roll it up tightly, starting from one side. Place the rolled strudel seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with melted butter.

  5. 5

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the strudel for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Make the Vanilla Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice the strudel and serve warm with a drizzle of vanilla sauce on top.
