Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Rim the edge of a rocks glass with lime juice and dip it into salt to coat the rim. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cucumber

Peel the cucumber if desired and slice it into thin rounds or chunks. You will need about 1/2 cup of cucumber for the drink.

  3. 3

    Muddle Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add the cucumber slices and fresh basil leaves. Muddle them gently with a muddler or the back of a spoon to release their flavors.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Add the tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup to the shaker with the muddled cucumber and basil.

  5. 5

    Shake the Cocktail

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

  6. 6

    Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into the prepared rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with an additional basil leaf or cucumber slice if desired.
