Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Blackberries

Wash the blackberries thoroughly and remove any stems or leaves.

  2. 2

    Cook the Fruit

In a large pot, combine the blackberries and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to release the juices. Then, heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

  3. 3

    Add Lemon Juice

Stir in the lemon juice and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

  4. 4

    Add Pectin

Once boiling, add the pectin and stir well. Bring back to a boil and boil for 1-2 minutes.

  5. 5

    Check for Setting

To check if the preserves are set, place a spoonful on a cold plate and let it sit for a minute. Run your finger through it; if it holds its shape, it's ready.

  6. 6

    Jar the Preserves

Pour the hot preserves into sterilized jars, leaving a little space at the top. Seal with lids and process in a boiling water bath for 5-10 minutes.

  7. 7

    Cool and Store

Remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool completely on a clean towel. Once cooled, check that the lids have sealed properly. Store in a cool, dark place.
