Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine coconut milk, lime juice, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and ground cumin. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Fish

Place the mahi mahi fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Ensure the fish is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Jalapeño

Finely chop the jalapeño pepper (remove seeds if you prefer less heat). In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped jalapeño and cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Cook the Mahi Mahi

Remove the fish from the marinade (discard the marinade) and add the mahi mahi fillets to the skillet. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate the Dish

Transfer the cooked mahi mahi to serving plates. Garnish with fresh cilantro, lime wedges, and slices of avocado.

  2. 6

    Serve

Enjoy your delicious Costa Rica-style mahi mahi with a side of rice or fresh salad!
