Method

Prepare the Tea

  1. 1

    Steep the Tea

Boil 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves. Let steep for 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Tea

After steeping, strain the tea to remove the leaves. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the warm tea and stir until completely dissolved. Allow the tea to cool.

Cook the Tapioca Pearls

  1. 3

    Boil the Pearls

In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of tapioca pearls, stirring gently to prevent sticking. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the pearls are translucent and chewy.

  2. 4

    Make the Syrup

Once cooked, drain the tapioca pearls and rinse them under cold water. In a small bowl, mix the pearls with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar to create a syrup. Let them sit while you prepare the rest of the drink.

Assemble the Bubble Tea

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a large glass, add the cooked tapioca pearls, followed by ice cubes, then pour in the cooled sweetened tea. Finally, add 1 cup of milk (dairy or non-dairy) to the glass.

  2. 6

    Serve

Stir well to combine all ingredients, and enjoy your refreshing classic bubble tea with a wide straw!
