Tea Base

Tapioca Pearls

Method

Prepare the Tea Base

  1. 1

    Brew the Tea

In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves. Allow it to steep for about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Tea

After steeping, strain the tea to remove the leaves. Stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar until completely dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Cook the Tapioca Pearls

  1. 3

    Boil the Pearls

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of tapioca pearls and cook according to package instructions, usually for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Syrup

Once the pearls are cooked, drain and rinse them under cold water. In a small saucepan, combine the cooked pearls with 4 tablespoons of brown sugar and a splash of water. Cook on low heat until the sugar is dissolved, creating a syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.

Assemble the Bubble Tea

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a tall glass, add the cooked tapioca pearls first. Pour in the cooled sweetened tea, add 1 cup of milk, and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

  2. 6

    Add Ice

Add 1 cup of ice cubes to the mixture. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve with a wide straw and enjoy your homemade bubble tea!
