Method

Cooking the Patty

  1. 1

    Forming the Patty

In a bowl, take 0.5 lb of ground beef and form it into a round patty about 3/4 inch thick, making a small indentation in the center to help it cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patty on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  3. 3

    Adding Cheese

Flip the patty and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until it reaches your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on top of the patty to melt.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 4

    Lettuce

Wash and dry one leaf of lettuce, then tear it into smaller pieces if desired.

  2. 5

    Tomato

Slice the tomato into 2 even slices.

  3. 6

    Onion

Slice the onion into 2 thin slices.

  4. 7

    Pickles

Prepare 3 slices of pickles from a pickling jar.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 8

    Toasting the Bun

Optional: Lightly toast the burger bun on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 9

    Building the Burger

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the cooked beef patty with melted cheese. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles. Finally, place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
