Prepare Homemade Chili
- 1
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 2
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 4
Simmer the Chili
Lower the heat and let the chili simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning as needed.
Assemble Nachos
- 5
Prepare Tortilla Chips
Spread the tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet.
- 6
Add Chili
Spoon the homemade chili evenly over the tortilla chips, ensuring each chip is topped.
- 7
Add Jalapenos and Cheese
Sprinkle sliced jalapenos and shredded cheese over the top of the chili-covered chips.
- 8
Bake Nachos
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the nachos in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 9

Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces or additional toppings.
