Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Rémoulade Sauce
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped capers, lemon juice, hot sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Cook the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the smoked applewood bacon until crispy, about 7-10 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Cooking the Burger
- 3
Form and Season the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into two equal patties, pressing them slightly in the center to avoid puffing during cooking.
- 4
Grill the Patties
Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of smoked Gouda cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Assembly
- 5
Build the Burger
To assemble, spread a generous amount of the prepared Rémoulade sauce on the bottom half of each burger bun. Place a lettuce leaf on each bun, followed by a slice of tomato. Add the grilled patty with melted Gouda cheese on top, then layer with crispy bacon and onion rings. Top with the other half of the bun.
