Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Wash the lettuce leaves and set them aside. Slice the tomato into thick slices and slice the red onion into rings.

  2. 2

    Grill the Pineapple

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the pineapple slices on the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear. Remove from heat and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Ham

In a small pan, warm the sweet ham slices over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes until heated through. You can also add a splash of teriyaki sauce for extra flavor.

  4. 4

    Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form it into four equal-sized patties.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Grill the Burger Patties

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and baste with teriyaki sauce. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until they reach your desired doneness.

  2. 6

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Fontina cheese on each patty to melt.

  3. 7

    Toast the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, place the burger buns cut-side down on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf followed by a slice of tomato and a few rings of red onion. Add the grilled burger patty with melted cheese on top.

  2. 9

    Add Ham and Pineapple

Top the burger patty with a slice of heated sweet ham and a grilled pineapple slice. Finish with the top half of the bun.
