Fried Pickle Fries
Ranch Dipping Sauce
Method
Fried Pickle Fries
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Start by slicing the dill pickles into fry-shaped pieces, approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
In one bowl, add the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, combine the buttermilk and egg, whisking until smooth. In a third bowl, mix together the cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Pickles
Dip each pickle fry first into the flour, ensuring it's well coated. Then dip it into the buttermilk mixture, followed by the cornmeal mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the breaded pickle fries into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
