Shrimp Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
In a bowl, combine the peeled and deveined red shrimp with buttermilk. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Frying the Shrimp
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Shrimp
Remove the marinated shrimp from the refrigerator. Dip each shrimp first in the egg wash, then coat it with the flour mixture, ensuring they are well covered.
- 6
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully place the coated shrimp in the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the shrimp with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
