Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk them together until well mixed.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until the batter is smooth and well combined.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cakes

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from pans and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Cream Topping Directions

  1. 7

    Prepare Cream Topping

In a mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

  2. 8

    Whip the Cream

Using an electric mixer, whip the cream mixture on high speed until stiff peaks form.

  3. 9

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of whipped cream on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides with the remaining whipped cream.
