Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Make the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and pepper to taste. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese (optional)

If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 4

    Slice the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato into thick rounds. Slice the red onion into thin rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Pickles

If using whole pickles, slice them into rounds or spears, as per your preference.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

Optionally, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build Your Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, tomato slice, red onion rings, and pickles. Add your choice of condiments on top and finish with the top half of the bun.
