Classic N.Y Strip Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This allows for more even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the steak to the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it.

  5. 5

    Add Aromatics

Flip the steak and add the garlic cloves, fresh rosemary, and butter to the pan. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes, basting the steak with the melted butter using a spoon.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130-135°F (54-57°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for at least 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps redistribute the juices.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
