Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Start by cleaning the fresh clams under cold water. Dice the potatoes, chop the onion, and mince the garlic.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pot.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same pot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.

  4. 4

    Add Potatoes and Broth

Add the diced potatoes to the pot and pour in the chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Clams and Cream

Once the potatoes are cooked, add the fresh clams and heavy cream. Stir well and cook until the clams open, about 5-7 minutes.

  6. 6

    Season the Chowder

Season the chowder with salt, black pepper, and stir in the chopped cilantro. Add the reserved bacon on top.

  7. 7

    Serve

Ladle the clam chowder into bowls and serve hot, garnished with extra cilantro if desired.
