Flatbread and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F), yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Create a well in the center, add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead and Rise

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  4. 4

    Shape the Flatbread

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into two equal pieces and roll each piece into a flat round shape about 1/4 inch thick.

  5. 5

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Place the flatbreads on a baking sheet. Spread pizza sauce evenly over each flatbread, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top, followed by the Italian seasoning and black pepper.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are golden brown.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
