Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Mashing

In a large brew kettle, heat 5 gallons of water to approximately 165°F. Add the pale malt and crystal malt, stirring well to ensure full saturation. Maintain the temperature around 150°F for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge the grains with 170°F water to collect about 6 gallons of wort in your brew kettle.

  3. 3

    Boiling

Bring the wort to a boil, then add the Cascade hops. After 30 minutes, add the Centennial hops. 10 minutes before the end of the boil, add the East Kent Goldings hops.

  4. 4

    Cooling

Cool the wort rapidly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches around 70°F.

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast. Seal with an airlock and allow to ferment for 1-2 weeks at 68°F.

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in 2 cups of boiling water and let it cool. Add to the beer before bottling to carbonate. Bottle and cap the beer.

  7. 7

    Aging

Allow the bottles to condition at room temperature for 1-2 weeks. Chill and enjoy your Snowbird Sessions IPA!
