Brewing Instructions
- 1
Mashing
In a large brew kettle, heat 5 liters of water to about 68°C (155°F). Add the pale malt and crystal malt to the water and hold the temperature for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 2
Sparging
After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to collect the wort until you have around 3.5 liters of liquid in your brew kettle.
- 3
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the Cascade hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add the Citra hops during the last 5 minutes of the boil.
- 4
Cooling
After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches around 20°C (68°F).
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter. Pitch the yeast and seal the fermenter with an airlock. Allow it to ferment for about 1-2 weeks at room temperature.
- 6
Bottling
After fermentation, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them. Let them condition for 2 weeks.
- 7
Enjoy
After conditioning, chill the bottles and enjoy your homebrew Slay IPA!
