Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Mashing

In a large pot, heat 6 liters of water to 160°F (71°C). Add the Pilsner malt and rice, stirring well. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Lautering

After mashing, drain the liquid (wort) into another pot. Rinse the grains with hot water to extract as much sugar as possible.

  3. 3

    Boiling

Bring the wort to a boil. Add Saaz hops and boil for 60 minutes. 15 minutes before the end of the boil, add Hallertau hops.

  4. 4

    Cooling

Cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches about 70°F (21°C).

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch the yeast and seal with an airlock. Ferment for about 2 weeks at 50°F (10°C).

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, mix the priming sugar with a small amount of boiling water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them.

  7. 7

    Conditioning

Let the bottles condition at room temperature for 1-2 weeks before refrigerating.

  8. 8

    Enjoy

Chill and enjoy your homemade Provo Girl Pilsner!
