Country Fried Steak & Eggs

Method

Preparation Instructions

1

Prepare the Steak

Pound the beef round steak to about 1/2 inch thickness. Season with salt and black pepper.

2

Dredge the Steak

Dip each steak in buttermilk, then dredge in flour, ensuring an even coating.

3

Fry the Steak

In a large skillet, heat cooking oil over medium heat. Fry the steaks for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and let drain on paper towels.

4

Make the Gravy

In the same skillet, reduce heat and melt butter. Add remaining flour, whisking until smooth. Gradually add milk and chicken broth, stirring until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

5

Cook the Eggs

In a separate skillet, fry the eggs to your liking (sunny-side up, over easy, etc.).

6

Cook the Hash Browns

In another skillet, cook the hash browns in butter until crispy and golden brown.

7

Serve

Plate the fried steak, top with gravy, place the eggs and hash browns on the side, and serve with your choice of biscuit or toast.
