Sushi Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Cook the Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice with 2.5 cups of water in a rice cooker or pot and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once cooked, let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked rice, being careful not to mash the grains.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Fillings

While the rice is cooling, prepare the fillings by slicing the fresh salmon and tuna into thin slices, julienning the cucumber, and slicing the avocado.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sushi

Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top. Lay slices of salmon, tuna, cucumber, and avocado across the rice.

  5. 5

    Roll the Sushi

Using the bamboo mat, roll the sushi tightly away from you, applying gentle pressure. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.

  6. 6

    Slice and Serve

Use a sharp knife to slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
