Prepare the Shrimp

Boil the Shrimp
In a large pot, combine 4 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

Cook the Shrimp
Once the water is boiling, add the pound of peeled and deveined shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

Chill the Shrimp
Remove the shrimp from the pot and transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for about 5-10 minutes.

Drain and Serve
Drain the shrimp and arrange them on a serving platter. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp for added flavor.

Mix the Sauce
In a bowl, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and optional hot sauce. Stir until well blended.

Taste and Adjust
Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust horseradish or hot sauce according to your preference for spice.
