Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Steak
Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the meat to cook evenly.
- 2
Season the Steak
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped fresh rosemary. Make sure to rub the seasoning into the meat for maximum flavor.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but is not smoking.
- 4
Sear the Steaks
Carefully add the seasoned ribeye steaks to the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving them, until a nice crust forms on the bottom.

- 6
Check Doneness
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, the temperature should read about 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time if you prefer your steak more or less done.
- 7
Rest the Steaks
Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the skillet and place them on a cutting board. Tent them with aluminum foil and let them rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
Serving
- 8
Slice and Serve
After resting, slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked ribeye steak!
