Fried Chicken Sandwich
Method
Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine buttermilk and sweet tea. Add chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow dish, mix together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken in the hot oil. Fry for about 6-8 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
