Method
For the Fried Jumbo Shrimp
- 1
Prepare the Breading
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- 2
Dip the Shrimp
In another bowl, pour the buttermilk. Dip each shrimp in the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring each shrimp is well coated.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 5
Drain the Shrimp
Remove the shrimp from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
For the Seasoned Waffle Fries
- 6
Cook the Waffle Fries
Prepare the frozen waffle fries according to the package instructions, usually by baking or frying.
- 7
Season the Fries
Once cooked, sprinkle the fries with salt, paprika, and black pepper to taste.
For the Hush Puppies
- 8
- 9
Heat the Oil for Frying
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
- 10
Fry the Hush Puppies
Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of the batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
