Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tsp of salt to the water.

Cook Spaghetti
Once the water is boiling, add 200g of spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making Marinara Sauce

Sauté Garlic
Add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour in 400g of crushed canned tomatoes, add 1 tsp of dried oregano, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of black pepper. Stir to combine.

Simmer Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add Fresh Basil
Just before serving, stir in 1 cup of chopped fresh basil into the sauce.
Making Alfredo Sauce

Add Cream and Garlic
Once melted, add 1 cup of heavy cream and 2 minced garlic cloves. Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Incorporate Cheese
Gradually add 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until melted and smooth.

Season Alfredo Sauce
Season with 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of black pepper, and a pinch of ground nutmeg. Mix well.
Combining and Serving

Mix Pasta with Sauce
In a large bowl, combine the drained spaghetti with your choice of marinara or alfredo sauce. Toss well to coat.

Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese or fresh basil if desired.
