Fish Balls

Method

Preparation of Fish Balls

  1. 1

    Mixing Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the surimi (fish paste), cornstarch, egg, fish sauce, salt, white pepper, minced garlic, and chopped green onions.

  2. 2

    Adding Water

Gradually add water to the mixture while stirring until a smooth and cohesive batter forms.

  3. 3

    Forming Balls

Wet your hands to prevent sticking and take small amounts of the mixture to form balls, about the size of a golf ball.

Cooking Fish Balls

  1. 4

    Heating Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium heat until hot (around 180°C or 350°F).

  2. 5

    Frying Fish Balls

Carefully drop the fish balls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them in batches for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 6

    Draining Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fish balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. 7

    Serving

Serve the fish balls warm as a snack or in a soup, garnished with additional chopped green onions if desired.
