Method
Shrimp Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- 2
- 3
Bread the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp into the wet mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Then, coat the shrimp in the dry mixture, pressing lightly to adhere. Set aside on a plate.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Waffle Fries
- 6
Prepare the Waffle Fries
While the shrimp is frying, cook the frozen waffle fries according to package instructions, usually in the oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- 7
Season the Fries
Once the fries are golden and crispy, remove them from the oven and season with salt and pepper to taste.
