Method
Marinating the Chicken
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Cut chicken breast into tenders and place in a bowl.
- 2
Marinate
Pour buttermilk over the chicken and add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Ensure all pieces are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight.
Breading the Chicken
- 3
Prepare the Breading Mixture
In a separate bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, additional salt, additional black pepper, and additional paprika.
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the breading mixture, ensuring an even coat. Shake off any excess flour.
Frying the Chicken
- 5
Heat Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread in; it should sizzle immediately.
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken tenders in the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes per side or until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried chicken tenders and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
