Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into quarters. This will help them cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

In a large pot, add the quartered potatoes and cover them with water. Add 1 tsp of salt to the water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel the garlic cloves. You can leave them whole or chop them for a stronger flavor.

  4. 4

    Cook the Garlic

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  5. 5

    Drain the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them in a colander and return them to the pot.

  6. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Add the cooked garlic and melted butter mixture to the drained potatoes. Pour in the heavy cream. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. You can adjust the consistency by adding more cream if needed.

  7. 7

    Season the Mashed Potatoes

Add the remaining salt and black pepper. Mix until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired.

  8. 8

    Serve

Transfer the garlic mashed potatoes to a serving bowl. If desired, garnish with chopped chives for added flavor and presentation.
