Potatoes

Method

Preparing the Potatoes

  1. 1

    Wash Potatoes

Wash the Russet potatoes under cold running water to remove any dirt.

  2. 2

    Peel Potatoes

Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler.

  3. 3

    Cut Potatoes

Cut the potatoes into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide, to create fries.

  4. 4

    Soak Fries

Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

Frying the Fries

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Dry Fries

Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  3. 7

    Fry Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until they are golden brown.

  4. 8

    Drain Fries

Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

  5. 9

    Fry Remaining Potatoes

Repeat the frying process with the remaining fries.

Seasoning the Fries

  1. 10

    Season Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. Toss gently to ensure even coating.
