Method
Making the Lemonade
Juicing the Lemons
Roll the lemons on a countertop to soften them and make them easier to juice. Cut each lemon in half and juice them using a citrus juicer or a reamer. You should have about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
Dissolving the Sugar
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. This creates a simple syrup.
Mixing Ingredients
In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, the simple syrup (sugar-water mixture), and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.
Chilling the Lemonade
Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness if necessary by adding more sugar or water to achieve your desired flavor. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to chill.
Serving Suggestions
Garnishing the Lemonade
Serve the lemonade over ice cubes in tall glasses. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves as desired.
Enjoying Your Lemonade
