Burger Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Burger

  1. 1

    Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Adding Toppings

  1. 4

    Melt the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to allow the cheese to melt.

  2. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the cheese is melting, cut the hamburger buns in half and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a cooked patty with melted Swiss cheese. Top with a generous spoonful of sauerkraut and drizzle with 1000 Island dressing. Close with the top half of the bun.
