Preparing the Burger Patties

Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until it starts to soften. Add the green bell pepper and mushrooms, and continue to sauté for an additional 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

Add the Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Prepare the Buns
Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

Build the Burger
On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the burger patty with melted provolone cheese, sautéed vegetables, sliced tomato, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
