Burger Patties

Sautéed Toppings

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Toppings

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

Thinly slice the onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until it starts to soften. Add the green bell pepper and mushrooms, and continue to sauté for an additional 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Burger Patties

  1. 5

    Grill or Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  2. 6

    Add the Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the burger patty with melted provolone cheese, sautéed vegetables, sliced tomato, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
