Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  6. 6

    Shape and Second Rise

Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or rolls. Place in a greased baking pan and let it rise again for 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake Bread

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Dip Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare Hummus

In a blender, combine 1 cup of hummus, 2 tsp of garlic, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth.

  2. 9

    Prepare Roasted Red Pepper Dip

Blend 1 cup of roasted red peppers with 1-2 tsp of garlic and salt to taste until smooth.

  3. 10

    Prepare Tzatziki

In a bowl, mix 1 cup of Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup of finely chopped cucumber, 1/2 cup of fresh dill, 2 tsp of garlic, and salt to taste.

  4. 11

    Balsamic Reduction

In a small saucepan, simmer 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar over medium heat until reduced by half. Let cool.

  5. 12

    Combine Dips

Serve the dips in small bowls alongside the baked bread. Garnish the balsamic reduction with fresh basil.
