Bruschetta Topping Preparation

  1. 1

    Chop the Tomatoes

Dice the ripe tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Basil

Chop the fresh basil leaves finely and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and mince the garlic cloves, then add them to the tomato and basil mixture.

  4. 4

    Add Olive Oil and Vinegar

Pour in 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar into the bowl.

  5. 5

    Season the Mixture

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to taste. Mix everything together until well combined.

Bread Preparation

  1. 6

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 7

    Slice the Bread

Cut the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  3. 8

    Brush with Olive Oil

Brush each slice with 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil on one side.

  4. 9

    Toast the Bread

Place the slices on a baking sheet, oiled side up, and toast in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Top the Bread

Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato and basil mixture on top of each slice.

  2. 11
