Baked Ziti Ingredients
Method
Baked Ziti Directions
- 1
Prepare the Pasta
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Make the Meat Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent. Add the ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in the marinara sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- 3
Combine Pasta and Sauce
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ziti and the meat sauce, stirring until well mixed.
- 4
Assemble the Dish
In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and half of the parmesan cheese on top. Add the remaining ziti mixture and top with the remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- 5
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 6
Serve
Let the baked ziti cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
