Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
In a bowl, soak the cleaned calamari in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Bread the Calamari
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coat.
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the breaded calamari to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with lemon wedges and marinara sauce.
