Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness for uniform cooking.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three shallow dishes, set up the breading station with flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and a mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese in the third.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Bread the Chicken

Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip it in beaten eggs, and then coat it with the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture.

  2. 4

    Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken breasts until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Making the Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Assembling

  1. 6

    Layer the Dish

In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce, place the fried chicken on top, cover with more marinara sauce, and sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly on top.

  2. 7

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the dish for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Finishing Touches

  1. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve hot.
