Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Lasagna Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside on a clean kitchen towel to avoid sticking.
Beef Mixture
- 2
Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Make the Sauce
Drain excess fat from the skillet. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
Ricotta Mixture
- 4
Prepare the Ricotta Filling
In a medium bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Assembling the Lasagne
- 5
Layer the Ingredients
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with a third of the shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layers once more (meat sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella). Finish with a final layer of noodles, remaining meat sauce, and top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Baking
- 6
Bake the Lasagne
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
