Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Add a generous pinch of salt once boiling.
- 2
Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccine in a colander.
Making the Sauce
- 4
Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to bubble.
- 5
- 6
Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Incorporate Parmesan
Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until melted and the sauce becomes creamy.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
