Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Add a generous pinch of salt once boiling.

  2. 2

    Cook Fettuccine

Add the fettuccine to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccine in a colander.

Making the Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to bubble.

  2. 5

    Sauté Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant but not browned.

  3. 6

    Add Heavy Cream

Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 7

    Incorporate Parmesan

Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until melted and the sauce becomes creamy.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

Combine and Serve

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccine to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 10

    Garnish

Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the pasta for garnish.

  3. 11

    Serve

Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and black pepper if desired.
