Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients. If the corned beef is not yet cooked, prepare it by boiling it in water with spices for about 3 hours or until tender. Let it cool and slice thinly.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

On one slice of marble rye, spread a generous amount of 1000 Island dressing. Layer on the slices of corned beef, followed by sauerkraut, and top with Swiss cheese. Spread more 1000 Island dressing on another slice of bread and place it on top.

  3. 3

    Toast the Sandwich

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Butter the outer sides of the sandwich and place it in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  4. 4

    Serve

Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve immediately with additional sauerkraut or dressing on the side if desired.
