Fried Shrimp or Oysters

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Wedge Fries

Preheat your oven according to package instructions for the frozen wedge fries. Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake until golden brown and crispy, about 20-25 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix with your preferred dressing (store-bought or homemade) and toss until well coated. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Breading Station

In three separate shallow dishes, place flour, a mixture of beaten eggs and milk, and a combination of cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  4. 4

    Bread the Shrimp or Oysters

Dip each shrimp or oyster first in the flour, shaking off excess. Then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the cornmeal mixture. Set aside on a plate.

  5. 5

    Fry the Shrimp or Oysters

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the breaded shrimp or oysters in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried shrimp or oysters alongside the wedge fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce.
