Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, grated Parmigiano Reggiano, crushed fennel seeds, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and egg. Mix until well combined but do not overmix.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet or plate.
- 3
Brown the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set them aside.
- 4
Make the Sauce
In the same skillet, add the crushed San Marzano tomatoes. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5
Combine and Cook
Return the meatballs to the skillet with the sauce. Cover and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the meatballs to cook through and absorb the flavors.
- 6
Serve
Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with additional grated Parmigiano Reggiano and fresh parsley if desired.
